Excerpt from Let Me In:
By the time we get to the dance floor, we are packed in like sardines, barely able to move, let alone dance. Rob places his hands on my hips and tugs me to him while placing his leg between mine. This whole dirty dancing thing is throwing me for a loop. What exactly are we doing here and dancing like this? I stare up at him with confusion and he gives me a cat-that-ate-the-canary look before pointing to the corner.
I stop dancing and turn my body around but Rob grabs me again and brings me against his crotch. Trying to search where he was looking, my eyes scan the crowd but I don’t see anything except a sea of drunken people making out with each other.
“Right there, Jessa,” he whispers in my ear and I follow his finger. My stomach drops when my eyes find Grant pressing some girl against the wall. He has her cornered while his lips devours her neck and his hands hike up her dress.
“Wish it was you?” he whispers and chills travel up my back. I automatically attempt to step away from Rob, but he pulls me back. “Not the angel you thought he was, huh?” he laughs. He twists me around to face him and although he’s laughing his comment off, I can’t help but feel like he means it. Panic arises as I wonder if Rob has seen something. God, did he see that kiss on New Year’s?
Rob keeps me wrapped in his arms when a slow song starts, but I can’t get my mind to erase what I just saw. As Rob’s breath tickles my neck while he sways me back and forth, I desperately want to see what Grant’s doing. I knew he wasn’t a monk, but I didn’t think he was the kind of guy who fucked a girl up against a wall in the middle of a club either. After the song ends, I tell Rob that I need to go to the bathroom. He places his hands on either side of my face and starts to kiss me. Thrusting his tongue into my mouth, he doesn’t let up. It starts to feel possessive, as though he’s trying to prove to everyone I’m his. Eventually I push him away and he laughs while I stalk off.

Synopsis: LET ME IN
Grant is damaged, selfish, and undeserving of love…or so he thinks.Jessa is happy, in love, and has overcome her past…or so she thinks.
Grant and Jessa can’t stop thinking about one another since being introduced at a party a month ago. And despite their differences, they can’t seem to stay away from each other either. However, both are hiding secrets of less-than-perfect pasts, fearing what will happen when those mistakes come to light. As they grow closer, they each battle their own insecurities, and neither believes that they are worthy of the kind of love that they both still want. So if it’s true that opposites attract, what happens when the similarities begin to surface?

I’m headed back into the editing cave for a couple weeks… MEN AND MARTINIS is back on my plate, a fact that I’m both excited and terrified about. If you’ve been with me a while, you know that M&M has been a LONG process. This book is the first of a possible six (three for sure) being published by Swoon Romance. The book they initially offered on was a sloppy mass of ideas that I pitched as a novella. The awesome (and patient) editors there have helped me through one complete and total rewrite (which turned this from a 20k word idea to a 70k word novel), and now I’m headed into another round of edits. This one isn’t a total rewrite, thank goodness… but having the publishing team’s experience and professional eyes behind the comments is pretty good motivation to follow their direction. And it’s never fun to hear that your baby’s not beautiful in every way!
So I’ve got a full two weeks to get back into the world of M&M — which is a world I actually lived in: NYC in the late 90s — and get this thing polished enough to go on to copyediting!
In the meantime, I’m so excited for REDEMPTION RED to hit the streets on October 15th. The blog tour is shaping up nicely (Thanks to all who are participating!). Review copies are out, and initial reviews are even beginning to trickle in! Here’s the first one from Goodreads… eee!
I won’t post any spoilers, but I will say that I thoroughly enjoyed Redemption Red. It is a modern romance in every sense, brining together two characters that have depth in their own lives and a complexity in their relationship as a couple – romantically and otherwise. I loved how opposite yet similar Audrey and Tyson were – and that their story wasn’t an open shut case. It took time, just like a good wine, to mature into what it was supposed to be.
LOVED! Off to read more Delancey Stewart titles, because now I have to! 🙂
There’s one coming soon from author Michelle Lynn (who wrote Love Me Back and just released Don’t Let Go — both of which are selling gangbusters on Amazon! Woot!) It is always a great feeling when an author you admire says something nice about your work!
Today I’m thrilled to host an amazing author and help promote her new book! Check out the awesome cover…
Author Michelle Lynn was kind enough to answer some of my questions.
- What part of the country do you live in? From what part do you originate?
I am a Midwest girl through and through. I have lived in Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio and Illinois and some of those places more than once.
- Do you have siblings? Where do you fall in the pecking order?
Yes, I am the youngest of three with an older brother and sister. Surprisingly, sometimes I feel like the oldest instead of the youngest.
- When did you begin writing?
I remember thinking stories in my head in junior high. Jotting down some poetry as well. Wish I could find those binders now.
- Favorite Jelly Belly? (this is an important question, people!)
Watermelon. I always search for those green beans with the red centers.
- Do you resemble any of the characters you develop?
Not really. I am struggling with the book I am currently writing. My main character is very secretive and holds back her feelings, whereas, I am an open book and never fail to express myself, just ask my husband.
- Would the story of how you fell in love with your significant other make for a great book?
Not to sound self-absorbed, but I do (not that I would write it). We had a lot of elements that make a great story. Forbidden work place romance, disapproval of family, still finding ourselves and best of all a HEA.
- What was the last book you finished?
Allure by Nina Lane. Loved it!
- What surprised you about the publishing process?
The bloggers and groups in social media astonished me. I am an avid reader and I never searched it out. Shame on me, I’m sure I missed out on some great discussions over books I love.
- Are there characters that stayed with you after you finished the book?
Funny you ask. Just this morning a thought crossed my mind about Kellan and Kiera from Reckless. (Not sure why?) If I experience a similarity to the book, the characters can come right back to my mind. I love it when that happens. Sometimes I am driving and a song will come on that I listened to while reading a book and my mind will drift back to the characters, making me smile.
- Give us a couple lines from your WIP:
“You are mine…always.” His lips crush into mine and the warmth spreads through my body. His hand moves from my cheek to my neck pulling me closer, keeping me firmly against his lips. He licks my bottom lip asking me for permission to open and, knowing that the words he just spoke are true, I oblige. His tongue meets mine and they dance together like they always have.
Love Me Back is available at Amazon and Barnes and Noble, and is available at Smashwords!
About Michelle Lynn:
Michelle moved around most of her life before settling down in the outskirts of Chicago ten years ago, where she now resides with her husband and two kids. She developed a love for reading at a young age, which helped lay the foundation for her passion of writing. With the encouragement of her family, she finally sat down and wrote one of the many stories that float around in her head. She enjoys writing and developing the characters she hopes you fall in love with, as much as she has. When she isn’t reading or writing, she can be found playing with her kids, talking to her mom on the phone, or hanging out with her family and friends.
